VEGA / MONZA V8 Installation
Chevrolet 283 to 400 ci SB engines with TH350, 700R4, 4 speed transmission.
Parts needed;
Engine adapters. 71 - 80  #10500 Factory or aftermarket V8 Monza oil pan
10501/2 frame plate for factory V6/8 vehicles V8 Monza manifolds or Headers #10550
Engine adapter bolt kit, #10520 Short water pump. 58 – 67 or Monza
2 x #122267 engine cushions. 19" x 22" Alum Radiator is recommended.
Transmission mount kit, #10530 or #10535. Fan, 15”/17” (Staggered seven blade)
122268, PN10530 or 122353, pn10535 cushion. Lower hose Dayco M30  (May vary)
Transmission bolt kit. #10540 or #10545 Upper hose Dayco M21.  (May vary)
Installation procedure.
 1.      Mark hood hinge positions and remove hood.
 2.   Mark and disconnect all wires, hoses, linkage, etc.
 3.      Drain fluids responsibly, remove radiator.
 4.   Note fuel line position. May need to reroute it before installing engine.
 5.      Remove existing engine and transmission.
 6.   Completely clean engine compartment.
 7.   71 - 75 Non A/C, Remove heater core cover, reverse heater core. Figure B.
 8.      Measure new inlet / outlet positions. Modify heater core cover. Fig B.
 9.   Reinstall heater core with inlet and outlet to the outside.
10.  Put an indentation in center of transmission tunnel at firewall. Fig. A
11.  Install engine cushions. Bolt kit #10520  38 lb/ft
12.   Remove water pump and lower pulleys. Recommended.
13.   Install engine & transmission as a unit.
14.   Install engine adapters, short = right, tall = left. Factory bolts or bolt kit #10520
15.  Engine adapters are slotted. Adjust the transmission output shaft centerline 7/16" to
       1/2" to the right (passenger) side of center.Tighten bolts 38 lb/ft..
16.  Check for clearance on engine and transmission to body after installing trans mount.
17.  Check for centerlink, tie rod end to pan clearance. Readjust stops if needed.
